Hi! I’m Konoka. I have experienced a lot of new things in New Zealand, so I want to tell you about my life here.
I go to Dannevirke High School and I’m enjoying my school life. It’s because I have good friends and am having a good time at school. I want to introduce one of my friends. She is a bright and lively girl and has a kind heart. The chance of meeting each other was English class. We are in the same class, and one day she talked to me, “Who will you eat lunch with?” I didn’t have friends to eat lunch with at that time, so I said, “I don’t have friends who I can have lunch together. Can I eat lunch with you?” Then she said to me, “Let’s eat lunch together!” I thought that she is kind and friendly. Now, she is my close friend and we always tell a joke to each other. I have a funny story with her. We call each other “teacher” and “student”. Isn’t it funny?? I always say to her “You are my best student forever” and she always says to me “You are my best teacher forever”. For us, it means that we are close friends. I love her as a friend and I’m so happy to meet her in NZ. I think that this meeting is precious.
Next, I’m going to talk about my host family. I’m living with a great family and I have a host mother, father, sister and brother. I also have a Nana (my host father’s mother). They always say something funny and call me, “Konoka〜!!” They make me laugh and happy. They also helped me when I was sad and worried. I spend a lot of time with my host sister. She is so funny and cool. Her existence changed me positively and she is indispensable to me. I have some favorite words that she said. When I didn’t have confidence and said, “I can’t do it!”, she said to me,”Konoka! Trash can is not trash can not!! Do you understand??” These words made me laugh and I thought that I would like to try. She always encourages me like this. She is like a real little sister and big sister to me. I’m glad to have a great relationship with her. I love the time that we are laughing together. I’m really, really happy to meet her in my life.
Before I came here, I had thought my life in Japan was normal life for me. However, it was wrong and I could notice “the support from a lot of people for me.” Now, I also have a lot of important people like my friends and host family in NZ. So, I’d like to thank all the people who have been involved with me. Thank you so much.

こんにちは！好花です。私はニュージーランドでたくさんの新しいことを体験できたので、私のここでの生活についてお話したいと思います。
私は今ダニバークハイスクールに通っていて、学校生活を楽しんでいます。なぜなら、良い友達と楽しい時間を過ごせているからです。私の友達のひとりを紹介したいと思います。彼女は明るくて活発な女の子で、優しい心を持っています。出会ったきっかけは英語のクラスでした。私たちは同じ英語のクラスで、ある日彼女から「誰とランチ食べるの？」と話しかけてくれました。私はその当時一緒にランチを食べる友達がいなかったので「ランチを一緒に食べる友達がいないの。一緒に食べていい？」と言いました。彼女は私に「一緒に食べよう！」と言ってくれました。彼女はなんて優しくてフレンドリーな人だと思いました。今では、彼女は仲の良い友達で、私たちはいつもお互いに冗談を言い合っています。彼女とのおもしろい話があります。私たちはお互いのことを「先生」と「生徒」と呼び合っています。おもしろいと思いませんか?私は彼女にいつも「あなたはいつまでも私のいちばんの生徒だよ」と言い、彼女は私に「あなたはいつまでも私のいちばんの先生だよ」と言ってくれます。これは、私たちにとって、お互いが親友であることを表す言葉です。（笑）私は彼女のことが大好きで、NZで出会えて本当に良かったと思っています。この出会いは自分にとってとても大切なものになりました。
次に私のホストファミリーについてお話します。私はホストマザー,ファザー，シスター,ブラザーの素敵な家族と住んでいます。また、私にはNana（ホストファザーのマザー）もいます。彼らはいつも「好花〜!!」と呼んでおもしろいことを言ってくれます。彼らは私を笑わせて幸せにしてくれます。彼らは私が悲しいときや悩んでいた時に助けてくれました。私は家でたくさんの楽しい時間をホストシスターと過ごします。彼女はとてもおもしろくてクールです。彼女の存在は私をポジティブに変えてくれ、彼女は私にとってなくてはならない存在です。私には彼女の言った言葉でお気に入りの言葉があります。私が自信をなくして「できない！（can’t）」と言ったとき、彼女は「好花！ゴミ箱のtrash canだって、trash can notって言わないでしょ!!分かる??」と言いました。彼女の言葉は私を笑わせてくれ、もっと頑張ってみようと思うことができました。このように彼女はいつも私を励ましてくれます。彼女は私にとって本当の妹であり、お姉ちゃんのようです。私はこんなに素敵な関係を築くことができて嬉しいです。私は彼女と一緒に笑い合っている時間が大好きです。私の人生の中でホストシスターに出会えて、本当に本当に嬉しいです。
ここに来る前、私は日本での生活は私にとって当たり前のものだと思っていました。しかしそれは間違いで、私は「私のためのたくさんの人からの支え」に気付くことができました。私には今、NZにも友達やホストファミリーのように大切な人がたくさんいます。だから、私に関わるすべての人にたくさんのありがとうを伝えたいです。ありがとうございます!
