I will tell you about my host family and my New Zealand life. I hope you enjoy reading my story. 🙂

 

First, I will tell about my host family. In my family there is my host mother, one sister and me. My host mother’s name is Amanda and she is a very nice mother. When I ask some questions, she always answers me very clearly. Also, she checks my diary, essay and my speech. Thanks to her my writing ability is getting better,(Maybe…:p) My host sister’s name is Shauni and she is 13 years old. She is funny and she likes to dress up! One day, we went to Napier, then she said, “You should wear a dress.” But I didn’t have one, so she lent me her dress. In Japan I don’t have a sister, so I have never experienced this. I was very happy, also I enjoyed Napier with my host family!!! 

My host family has two cats and two dogs. The names of the cats are Fabio and Sky. Some nights they come into my room and sleep on my bed. The names of the dogs are Angel and Shakira. Angel is a big dog and she always stays outside. Shikira is a puppy and she is very cute and friendly. I often play with her. Honestly, when I lived in Japan, I didn’t like animals because they were scary for me. But now, I like animals and I like to play with them. (Angel, the big dog is still a little bit scary for me. Haha 🙂 I’m enjoying staying with my host family and I’m proud of staying at this house.

 

Next, I will tell you about my New Zealand school life! In New Zealand, I take math, English, history, sewing, art, ESOL, and Food and Nutrition. My favorite class is Food and Nutrition because I often cook and I can learn how to cook. I have made Nacho’s, which is a famous food in New Zealand, pasta, cakes, scones and so on. The most difficult class for me is history because it’s very hard to understand 🙁  But from it, I can learn a lot of words and writing. So, it’s very good to improve my English ability. 

 

Until last week, I played football (soccer), but it has finished because in New Zealand now winter is over. ( Football is a winter sport) When I was playing it, I had practiced every Tuesday and I had a game every Wednesday. Sometimes I went to another school to play the game. I enjoyed playing football so much 🙂

 

About a month ago, I had the school ball!!!! The school ball is a very big dance party, so I got dressed up and put on make-up. When I entered the room of the party, I was very surprised because the room was very AWESOME!!! There were a lot of coloured lights and very loud music with a DJ. It was like a movie. During the party, I was dancing with my kiwi friends, drinking some yummy juice and eating. 😀 In Japan, I have never been to a party, so this party was the first time for me. It was a great event and I’ll never forget it 🙂

 

Guess what! A few weeks ago, it was my birthday, so I had my birthday party at my house. I invited my kiwi friends and we were eating a lot, talking and watching DVD’s. My host mother organized great foods and a birthday cake for me. My host sister decorated the room and my friends gave cute present to me. 😀 I was so happy and I had an amazing time on my birthday!!!

 

Finally, I want to say THANK YOU to my parents and teachers. Thanks to them, I’m having a nice time in New Zealand and am experiencing things I have never done before. In three months, I’m going to go back to Japan!!!!!! I’m really looking forward to seeing my family, teachers and friends. 🙂

こんにちは。お元気ですか？私はとても元気で、ここニュージーランドで楽しい時間を過ごしています。私は宮前実希といいます。現在は、セントラルホークスベイカレッジに通っています。ニュージーランドに来て、もう7ヶ月も経ってしまったなんて信じられないです。本当に時間が早く過ぎていきます！！！

 

今日は、私のホストファミリーとニュージーランドでの生活を紹介します。楽しんで読んでもらえるとうれしいです。

 

まず、私のホストファミリーですが、ホストマザーとシスターと一緒に暮らしています。私のホストマザーはアマンダといい、とても優しいお母さんです。質問するといつでもわかりやすく答えてくれます。また、彼女は私の日記や英作文、スピーチのチェックもしてくれます。アマンダのおかげで、私のライティング力が上がってきていると思います。（そう願います。。。）私のホストシスターはシャウニといい、13歳です。シャウニはとてもおもしろくて、おしゃれが大好きです。ある日一緒にネイピアに行ったときに、「何か素敵な服を着た方が良いよ。」と言われました。私が持っていないというと、彼女は自分の服を貸してくれました。日本では妹がいなかったので、このような経験は初めてでした。とてもうれしくなって、ネイピアでもホストファミリーと一緒に楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。

ホストファミリー宅には、2匹の猫と2匹の犬がいます。猫の名前はファビオとスカイで、時々2匹は私の部屋にやって来て一緒にベッドで寝ることもあります。犬の名前はエンジェルとシャキラです。エンジェルは大きな犬で、いつも外にいます。シャキラは子犬でとてもかわいくて人なつっこい犬です。私はよく一緒に遊びます。正直なことをいうと、日本にいたときには動物は怖くてあまり好きではありませんでした。しかし今は、動物と一緒に遊べることがうれしいです。（エンジェルは大きいので、まだちょっと怖いですが。）ホストファミリーと一緒に過ごせて本当に幸せです。

 

次に、学校生活を紹介します。私は、数学、英語、歴史、裁縫、美術、ESOL、家庭科（調理）をとっています。私のお気に入りの授業は料理を学べる家庭科です。今までには、こちらで有名なナチョス、パスタ、ケーキやスコーンなどに挑戦しました。一番大変な授業は難しいと感じてしまう歴史です。けれども、その授業のおかげで、たくさんの言葉やエッセイなどの書き方を学び、英語力を伸ばせたと思います。

 

先週まで、私はフットボール（サッカー）をしていましたが、冬が終わってしまったので練習も終わってしまいました。（ニュージーランドではサッカーは冬のスポーツです。）それまでは火曜に練習があり、水曜日には試合をしていました。時には他の学校に行って試合をする事もあり、とても楽しく活動することができました。

 

約一ヶ月前には、スクールボールがありました！！スクールボールは大きなダンスパーティーなのですが、私はドレスを着て、お化粧もしました。パーティー会場に入ったときには、その会場のすごさに驚いてしまいました。色とりどりの照明や、DJが流す大音量の音楽は、全てが映画のようでした。パーティーの間、現地の友達と一緒に踊ったりおいしいジュースや食べ物を楽しみました。日本でこのような経験はなく、パーティー自体も初めてで、忘れられない経験になりました。

 

数週間前、私は誕生日を迎えました！私は家でパーティーを開き、友達を招待して、一緒に食べたり、おしゃべりをしたり、DVDを見たりしてすごしました。ホストマザーは私のためにおいしい食事やケーキを準備してくれました。ホストシスターは部屋の飾り付けをしてくれ、友達はかわいいプレゼントをくれました。とても幸せで、楽しい時間を過ごすことができました！！

 

最後に、日本の両親と先生方に感謝の気持ちを伝えたいと思います。皆さんのおかげで、このようなすばらしい時間をニュージーランドですごし、今までには決してなかったことを体験しています。3ヶ月後、私はいよいよ日本に帰国する予定です！家族、先生方、そして友達に会えることを心から楽しみにしています。
