Hello. I am Mikoto. It takes me 30 minutes to commute from my house to Tauraroa Area School. I like playing the piano, so I always play the piano. I try to encourage everyone who listens to the sophisticated songs that I play. It’s impossible not to be captivated because my performance brings a smile. Moreover, I prefer making my friends smile or laugh with my charming smile and my storytelling ability rather than just listening to others’ stories. I have been trying to acquire oral ability in English so that I can share the feelings that I have experienced with my friends, and I want to be a persuasive speaker.
I will introduce my school life in New Zealand. I belong to the jazz band club as a piano player. These days, I’ve been working harder than ever since the music festival will be held from August 8th to 10th, where bands will compete against each other. During the band practice, which we have twice a week, I’ve been showing remarkable improvement in my piano skills. A lot of people have complimented me, and it has motivated me to make strenuous efforts more diligently. Furthermore, my friends and I have deepened our mutual understanding through a variety of exchanges.
At lunchtime, I consciously try to talk to strangers with a clear aim of polishing my thinking. To be honest, before I came to New Zealand, I thought that the students here would be scary and would have a blunt attitude toward me. However, I exerted myself, trying to start conversations. I’ve successfully made friends with some students who I believe are kind. Now, we can confide in each other whenever we face problems. I often stroll around the school with students I’d like to have conversations with. I think it is important to talk to each person individually so that I can keep up with the conversation.
I am going to tell you about my life with my host family. There are four people in my family, including myself, my host mother, host sister and host brother. I always play with my host sister and host brother by drawing pictures, jumping on the trampoline, and doing funny things. We barely stay at home on the weekends. That’s why I can experience a lot of things using all five senses. My host mother is very kind. She is understanding and teaches me a great deal of wisdom. In addition, I am as happy as can be because I am surrounded by many friends of my host family. I enjoy spending time with them, as they are lively and irresistible. When they remember my name and call me, I feel happy because I am sure that I am a part of the group of good friends. Moreover, when I see the children fighting over nothing, I can easily visualize the time when I was arguing with my sister and brother as a child. I recollect a bittersweet memory, whereas I am making a great deal of unforgettable memories.
In this way, I have been taking pleasure in my life in New Zealand and I am deeply grateful to everyone. I will try to seize every opportunity.

こんにちは。みことです。タウラロアエリアスクールに３０分かけて通学しています。私はピアノを弾くことが好きなので、いつもピアノを弾いています。そして、私が弾く洗練された曲で聴くすべての人を元気づけようとしています。私のパフォーマンスにみんな魅了され、笑顔になります。さらに、私は他の人の話を聞いて笑うより、私の魅力的な笑顔と話術で友達を笑わせることの方が好きです。私が経験してきた感情を英語で他の人と共有するために、おもしろい話ができる能力を身につけようとしており、説得力のある話し手になりたいです。
まず始めに、私のニュージーランドでの学校生活を紹介します。私はジャズバンドクラブに所属していて、ピアノ奏者をしています。8月8日から10日まで音楽祭が開催され、お互いの腕前を競い合うので、最近これまで以上にピアノを一生懸命練習しています。週に2回行われるバンドの練習では、私のピアノの技術が著しく向上していて、多くの人が私を褒めてくださるので、もっともっと練習しようと思っています。さらに、私の友人と私は、たくさん交流して相互理解を深めています。
昼食時間には、私は自分の心を磨くという明確な目標をもって、意識的にいろいろな人に話しかけるようにしています。正直に言うと、ニュージーランドに来る前は、ニュージーランドの生徒たちは怖くて、私に対してぶっきらぼうな態度をとるのではないかと恐れていました。しかし、私は彼らと会話をしようと努力し、今では親切で、問題に直面した時にはいつでもお互いに秘密を打ち明けることができる友人ができました。会話したいと思う生徒とよく学校を散歩しています。また、彼らの会話に追いつくために、一人一人と話すことを重要視しています。
次に、ホストファミリーとの生活について話します。私の家族は私を含めて4人います。ホストマザー、ホストシスター、そしてホストブラザーです。私はいつもシスターとブラザーと一緒に、絵を描いたり、トランポリンをしたり、面白いことをしたりして遊んでいます。私たちは週末にほとんど家にいません。だからこそ、私は五感を使って、たくさんのことを経験することができています。私のホストマザーは非常に親切です。彼女は私の気持ちをとても理解してくれ、私に多くの知恵を教えてくれます。さらに、たくさんのホストファミリーの友達にも囲まれているので、私はこの上なく幸せです。活気があり、大変魅力的な人たちと一緒に過ごすのが楽しいです。彼らが私の名前を覚えてくれ、名前を呼んでもらえると、私も彼らの友達の一員だと確信し、とても幸せに感じます。また、子どもたちがくだらないことでけんかしているのを見ると、私が子どもの頃、姉と兄と口論していたことを思い出します。私はちょっぴり苦い思い出にふける一方で、私は忘れることのない第二の思い出をたくさん作っています。
このように、私はニュージーランドでの生活を楽しんでおり、皆さんに深く感謝しています。私はあらゆる機会をつかめるように努力します。
