From NZ (Ayaka)

Hi everyone. I’m Ayaka and I go to Central Hawke’s Bay College. It is winter here in NZ now, so it is cold every day. Let me tell you about my life.

Firstly, I will talk about my classes. I take history, math, P.E., photography, music and ESOL. I like music class. There are only seven people in my music class. Everyone can play some instruments and I play the piano. The level of the class members is high, and we play some songs every day. I can get good experiences because the students in this class love music and we enjoy playing songs together. Also, I take a piano lesson every week. My teacher is kind and plays the piano very well. I enjoy playing the piano with them.

Secondly, I will talk about my friends. I will introduce my best friend. Her name is Savanah. I take the same PE and photography classes as her. I talked to her on the first day because she looked so cool. I thought I wanted to make friends with her. In March, I couldn’t talk well with her, but I think now I can talk with her better than before. I spend the interval and lunch time with her in the office of one of our teachers. Students from different years get together there.

Thirdly, I will talk about one of the school events. My favorite event was cross country. I ran and walked on a road. I became dirty and got wet because the road was muddy, and teachers used hoses to splash water. I didn’t wear shoes and I got mud on my head and face. I got sixth place, so I was happy. Savanah got the second place. I wanted to catch up with her, but she was fast. This event was hard, but it was a good experience.

Finally, I will talk about NZ history. I thought NZ has its own history, but I was wrong. We can’t know NZ history from ancient times to the middle age because Maori people don’t have a traditional written language. We can learn clear NZ history after NZ became a British colony. Also, NZ history is connected to Britain and Europe. Now I am learning about WWⅠand WWⅡin the history class. By learning history in NZ, I’ve rediscovered that Japanese history is so unique and important. I wonder how many Japanese people understand the preciousness of Japanese history. Do you know what number the present Japanese emperor is? He is the 126th. Also, do you know when Japan was founded? It was founded about 2700 years ago, so Japan is one of the oldest countries in the world. Many countries are not over 100 years old. Japan is a wonderful country with such a long history. I think Japanese people don’t know this fact. I want more Japanese people to be interested in Japanese history. Anyway, I enjoy learning about history in NZ and I think this is a great opportunity to view Japan objectively from an external perspective.

皆さん、こんにちは。あやかです。私はセントラルホークスベイカレッジに通ってます。 NZ は今冬で、毎日寒いです。私の学校生活を紹介したいと思います。

初めに、授業について話します。私は歴史、数学、体育、写真、音楽、ESOL をとっています。私は音楽の授業が好きです7 人の生徒しかいませんが、みんな楽器が弾けます。そのため、授業内容はレベルが高く、私たちは毎日何曲かを演奏します。私はピアノを担当しています。とてもいい経験になっています。音楽の授業をとっている生徒は音楽が大好きです。みんな音楽を楽しんでいます。また、私はピアノレッスンを毎週受けています。私の先生は優しく、とてもピアノが上手いです。私はピアノを弾くのが楽しいです。

次に、私の友達について話します。私は友達を作ることができました。ベストフレンドを紹介します。彼女の名前はスヴァンナです。私は彼女と体育と写真のクラスが一緒です。初日に私は彼女に話しかけました。彼女が可愛かったので、彼女と友達になりたいと思いました。 3 月ごろはあまりうまく話せませんでした。前よりはうまく話せてると思います。私は彼女とインターバルとランチタイムにはある先生のオフィスにいます。そこには異なる学年の 子が集まります。私たちはゲーム、特にカードゲームをします。私はインターバルとランチタイムが好きです。

次に、学校行事について話します。私のお気に入りのイベントはクロスカントリーです。私は道路を走ったり歩いたりしました。私は泥だらけでびしょ濡れになりました。なぜなら、泥道だった上に、先生たちがホースを使って水をまいていたからです。私は靴を履きませんでした。顔と髪に泥が着きました。私は 6 位でした。嬉しかったです。スヴァンナは 2 位でした。私は彼女に追いつきたかったですが、彼女は速かったです。この行事は大変でしたが、いい経験になりました。

最後にニュージーランドの歴史について話します。私はニュージーランドには独自の歴史 がある思っていました。しかし、それは違いました。私たちは古代から中世のニュージーランドの歴史を詳しく知ることはできません。なぜなら、マオリの人々は文字を持たないからです。そのため、私たちはニュージーランドがイギリスの植民地になって以降の歴史しか詳しく知ることができません。また、ニュージーランドの歴史はイギリスやヨーロッパに結びついています。そのため、私は第一次世界大戦と第二次世界大戦について歴史の授業で習っています。ニュージーランドで歴史を学んでいることで、日本の歴史はとても貴重で重要だと改めて思いました。どれくらいの日本人が日本の歴史の貴重さを認識しているでしょうか。現在の天皇が何代目か知っていますか。今代で 126 代 目になります。また、日本がいつ建国されたか知っていますか。日本は 約2700 年前に建国されました。日本は一番古い国のひとつです。多くの国の歴史は、100 年にもも。日本は長い歴史のある素晴らしい国です。 より多くの人が日本の歴史に興味を持ってもらえるといいです。私はニュージーランドで歴史を楽しく学んでおり、外から日本を客観的に見つめなおすいい機会になっていることを嬉しく思います。
